American moviegoers most often flock to blockbusters of biblical proportions, but the majority just want to see their values reflected on screen.
Several upcoming movies hope to tap into the majority of Americans who want to see Christian values in their movies. According to a study from LifeWay Research, 56 percent agreed with the statement “I wish there were more movies that reflect Christian values.”
Perhaps the best bets for movie studios looking to score big with faith-based films will be the South and Midwest, where more than 60 percent say they want those types of movies. While slightly less than 50 percent of those in the Northeast and West agree.
The online survey of 1,000 Americans found those over 45 were the most likely to agree, with 65 percent wanting more of those films. A slim majority, 51 percent, of those 39 to 44 feel the same.
The exception is young adults. Those 18 to 29 are least likely (43 percent) to agree with this sentiment.
